“CRISTO NEL CEMENTO”
America, bella America
“CHRIST IN CONCRETE”
America, beautiful America
You devour me and spit my bones in a hole in the ground
Cursed be Poverty and cursed be Fear, its bastard son
America, beautiful America
You devour me and spit my bones in a hole in the ground
Cursed be Greed, the root of every evil
Cursed be the Boss and his ravenous ignorance
And everything falls apart and I dig with my teeth for a last breath
Wife
Sons
The horror
America, beautiful America
You devour me and spit my bones in a hole in the ground

LE RAGAZZE ITALIANE
Le ragazze italiane
non vengono da Venere
ma dal Quartiere Latino
con una limousine
Le ragazze italiane
si offrono da bere
e ti ripagano
mostrando il seno nudo
Le ragazze italiane
le trovi nel privé
che bevono champagne
col figlio dello Scià
Le ragazze italiane
si danno la lingua
s'infilano le dita
dentro le mutandine
Le ragazze italiane
lo fanno per amore
e per profumi e baiocchi
se l'occasione è giusta
Le ragazze italiane
se la noia le coglie
al pranzo di famiglia
fanno cose sotto il tavolo
strane cose sotto il tavolo
dolci cose sotto il tavolo
Dio benedica
le ragazze italiane
le cattive ragazze
le ragazze italiane
Dio benedica
le cattive ragazze

THE ITALIAN GIRLS
The Italian girls
Don’t come from Venus
But from The Latin Quarter
On a Limousine
The Italian girls
Offer themselves a drink
And pay you back
Showing their naked breasts
You meet the Italian girls
In a disco privé
While they drink champagne
With the son of the Shah
The Italian girls
French kissing
And sliding their fingers
In their panties
The Italian girls
Make sex for love
And for perfumes and toys
If the time is right
When the Italian girls
Dine with all their families
If they get bored
Make things under the table
Strange things under the table
Sweet things under the table
God bless the Italian girls
The bad girls
The Italian girls
God bless
The bad girls

A CERTAIN KIND OF TROUBLE
At least I’ve learned how to settle this kind of trouble. The master class in this subject cost me some hundred euros, the blood I spat on the asphalt and a cracked rib that still hurts when I laugh.
And here he is, this low rank mobster, too high on coke, in a crisis of conscience and keen to confess his sins to me as if I was a priest and this bar a church.
After a twisted speech full of holes, from which I only get that there are some guys that are much more dangerous than he is, and he’s not by no means harmless, he takes a deep breath and starts to tell me that there is something I must know.
At that point I stop and tell him that I don’t have to know anything and I don’t want to know anything and this is better for the both of us for sure.
The light in his eyes changes: he reconsiders the situation and above all reconsiders me.
It’s a difficult and endless moment.
In the end he agrees that I’m right and he offers me a drink.
I drink a toast even if this disgusts me, but non accepting his gratitude would be another kind of trouble.
Because now he is grateful to me. He is grateful to me because I saved him the trouble to come looking for me tomorrow.

SABATO SIMON RODIA
SABATO SIMON RODIA
You just can be very good or very bad. If you are half good you are not good.
I am one of the worst man of this nation, but I can do something that doesn’t exist in the world yet, something fantastic and totally useless.
Galileo proved that Earth moves and the Pope was his boss.
Galileo was an architect and he built a tower and the tower leaned.
So I build a tower too and it is different from the tower of Galileo.
I am one of the worst men of America, but I build something that doesn’t exist yet in the world.
For thirty years in every spare hour after the job with pieces of glass green or blue, with wire and cement, with steel, shards and sweat, with my hands and nothing else I build the tower that people like and I call it “our village”.
Somebody thinks I’m crazy, somebody understands that I’m doing something that didn’t exist before.
Our village, the tower that people like.
I am Sabato Simon Rodia and here in Los Angeles, in these neighborhood of poor fellows I build the tower that people like and everybody comes to see it.
I build the tower that people like and everybody comes to see it.
